Since the Covid epidemic began in 2020, most people have been unable to travel to Japan because of severe border controls. Overseas visitors to Japan will drop from roughly 32 million in 2019 to barely 250,000 in 2021, based on data from the Japan National Tourism Organization. But when will we be able to go back out there? You should know the following information.
Japan visa requirements for citizens of the United Kingdom
As of Friday, June 10, 2022, visitors to Japan are once again welcome, but only under tight conditions. Only guests on pre-arranged tours are permitted entry during this initial phase, and they must wear masks, purchase private health insurance, and be accompanied at all times.
Travelers should be reminded by tour operators to wear and remove masks at each stage of the trip, according to the Japan Tourism Agency.
“Masks should be worn even in the open air when people are in close proximity to each other.”
Closed locations, busy areas, and close contact settings should all be avoided by visitors.
Within 72 hours of departure, they must show a negative certificate from Covid, a signed copy of the Written Pledge, and a completed questionnaire administered digitally by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare (available in multiple languages). Once they arrive in Japan, they must present the above documents, perform a PCR test, and download the mandatory health monitoring app before they may leave the airport. People must spend a certain number of days quarantined depending on where they are flying from and whether or not they have been immunized.
Visitors must be sponsored by a Japanese travel agency and registered in the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS). Within 72 hours of their flight time, they must undergo an approved Covid test, get documentation of a negative result in an approved format, and sign a written commitment promising to follow quarantine and self-isolation guidelines, among other things. An online health questionnaire and a QR code will be required of passengers upon arrival at the airport.
Travelers from the United Kingdom are no longer subject to quarantine in the United States of America.
You should check the government’s website for updates and information on what you must do to get entry to Japan if you are planning a trip there for the time being.
