The Gilis are a series of three small islands that are easily accessible by boat from both Lombok (see activities in Lombok) and Bali. Gili Trawangan is the most popular of these islands. It is regarded as a party island that attracts all types of travelers. However, it still boasts magnificent beaches, a range of outdoor activities, and excellent dining options. There are numerous activities available in the Gili Islands, but you should prioritize these five.

The Gilis appear to be the ideal trip location for all types of tourists! Whether you’ve been trekking Mount Rinjani, climbing Mt Kinabalu in Borneo, or zipping around on your Bali itinerary, it’s a terrific place to unwind if you’ve been engaging in extreme adventures in South East Asia. The Gili islands will completely relax you. Here are some suggestions for things to do in the Gili Islands, should you want to visit this bit of paradise!

The waters surrounding the Gilis are renowned for their thriving reefs, exceptional visibility, and abundance of marine life. Therefore, you should not pass up the opportunity to explore the underwater beauties. The Gilis are one of the best places to learn to dive in the world. However, if you do not wish to carry a tank or engage in freediving. You can also go snorkeling! This is the most convenient and inexpensive way to see marine life.

The most fascinating snorkeling location is the Gili Meno Underwater Statues, also known as the “Snorkel Around The World.” However, the coral near Gili Trawangan’s main beach is also stunning, and you will almost certainly see turtles there!

Activities in the Gili Islands

Yoga and mindfulness
On each of the Gili Islands, those who prefer to maintain their yoga practice while traveling have numerous opportunities for physical activity.

There are yoga studios on the beach and in treehouses that offer hatha and vinyasa courses. In addition, paddleboard yoga, meditative breathing techniques, and entire retreats are available. If you are truly interested in expanding your knowledge, you can even enroll in yoga teacher training.

Gili Yoga on Gili Trawangan, H20 Yoga on Gili Air, and the Seri Resort Yoga Center on Gili Meno are the most popular yoga centers. The Gilis are among the best places to deepen your yoga practice in a serene and natural setting, regardless of your level of experience.

Horse riding
Please refrain from utilizing horse-drawn carts as a mode of transportation on the Gili Islands to prevent animal cruelty. If you take an organized horseback riding excursion, however, you can rest assured that the horses are treated compassionately and are properly trained.

The greatest way to appreciate the beauty of the islands is by horseback riding along the stunning coastline and through the coconut farms at sunrise or sunset. Solo or with a partner, horseback riding in the Gili Islands is the most romantic activity available.

The Night Market Visit
If you have ever traveled to Asia, you will be familiar with the street food! Thus, the Gili Trawangan night market awaits you.

Daily at approximately 6 p.m., locals put up small kiosks near the boat port to sell freshly prepared dishes such as Nasi Campur, grilled fish, and other seafood delicacies. Vegan alternatives as well as desserts are available in plenty.

The nicest part is that everything is quite affordable. For roughly $8USD, you can purchase a complete supper for two people.

Touring the entire island by bicycle
The absence of motorized vehicles is the primary reason why the Gili Islands are so environmentally-friendly and pollution-free. The islands are so small that each may be traversed by bicycle within a few hours. Not only is this a terrific outdoor activity, but it also allows you to explore the islands more clearly and appreciate their authentic side. Bicycles can be rented for approximately $2 per hour (some accommodation options offer them for free). Try not to try it when intoxicated; I’ve heard numerous terrible stories! Or at least ensure you have excellent travel insurance; I recommend these individuals. $9 per week and reliable. Here you can view my safetywing review.

Due to the extreme heat that can occur during the day, plan your bike journey for the late afternoon. Commence the journey on the eastern side and conclude on the western side. Thus, you may experience the renowned Gili T sunset while sipping a refreshing cocktail at a beach bar.
