What can we do to support Ukraine?

On February 24 2022 , Russia started invading Ukraine and bombed it. Many of us have been left feeling both outraged and completely powerless as a result of witnessing people and children in Ukraine being forced to evacuate their homes and nation against their choice and take refuge in bomb shelters. The eight-year conflict in Ukraine has had a profound impact on the lives of its residents, and there is widespread worry that the situation will soon turn into one of Europe’s biggest humanitarian catastrophes since World War II. Here are several methods to remotely help respectable charities and organizations.

What can you do right now to help the people of Ukraine ? How can we donate money?

Donate to the Red Cross International Committee. Ukraine’s Sovereign Wealth Fund
As a response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the British Red Cross has formed a Ukraine Emergency Fund that you may give to at any time. ICRC and the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) are also involved. Donations can be used to help those who have been displaced by the invasion by providing them with food, drink, medication, warm clothing, and shelter.

Contribute to the Children’s Crisis Relief Fund to help the children of Ukraine
Save the Children was founded in England in 1919 and today operates in over 120 countries throughout the world to help children in need. Among these is Ukraine, where the United Nations has set up a Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund that will distribute international aid to children and their families, which would provide winter and also hygiene kits and income support for medications, meals, and rent, as well as mental health support and education for the children in Ukraine.  Donations are now being accepted at this time.

Donate money to Doctors Beyond Borders
Medical aid has been provided to people who have been directly harmed by the violence since 2014 by Geneva-based, 50-year-old worldwide nonprofit Doctors Without Borders. Since its routine activities have been put on hold, it has been donating emergency kits and developing new ways to deliver healthcare. This organization has also set up teams in neighboring countries like Belarus and Russia to provide unbiased humanitarian aids.

“People suffering from the conflict and refugee crisis in Ukraine, including the injured, orphaned children, the aged, displaced people, and families who have lost their main income,” British-Ukrainian Aid states in its website. It has started a campaign to gather £200,000 for medical help and evacuation costs in collaboration with charities and Non-profit Organizations on the ground. Donate to well-respected, local nonprofits.
There are organizations in Ukraine that need your aid, as recommended by a crowd-sourced list of fundraising campaigns and charities prepared by Ukrainians. Volunteer-run organizations such as Sunflower of Peace are creating first aid medical bags with enough equipment to save ‘up to 10 lives’ for medics and physicians.  Razom for Ukraine, which has formed a rescue efforts focused on procuring and providing medical resources and securing humanitarian corridors, is also collecting cash donations. Using mobile doctors and visual storytelling, Voices of Children strives to give psychological and emotional help to children who have been affected by the war. You may help by sharing your time or donating money.

The United Nations can help refugees.
The United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) is working with governments in neighboring countries to maintain as many borders open as possible for refugees seeking protection. Germany, for example, has volunteered to assist Poland in dealing with the influx of Ukrainian migrants. Currently, UNHCR is in need of monetary contributions.
